Coverage Area
Compass Home Group is based in Hyannis, in the industrial park off Independence Drive behind Route 132, and the crews reach every town on the peninsula from there. Most of the work sits in the mid Cape, in Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Mashpee and Falmouth, which is within a short drive of the shop. We also take projects in Sandwich and Bourne at the canal end, in Brewster, Harwich, Chatham and Orleans on the lower Cape, and out to Wellfleet and Provincetown on the outer Cape. Work over the bridge in Plymouth is taken case by case, because the bridge decides the day more than the distance does. Primary Market
Hyannis is where the shop is, and it is the core market. The 3,600 square foot finishing shop sits on Warehouse Road, off Independence Drive in the industrial park behind Route 132, near the airport. Doors, millwork and trim come off the job, get sprayed properly in a controlled environment, and go back.
The housing here is mixed in a way the rest of the Cape is not. Hyannis has year round residents, working families, rental property, and the neighborhoods running toward Craigville Beach and Hyannis Port. Most calls are kitchens and bathrooms in homes built between the 1950s and the 1970s, where the layout is the real problem and the finishes never were. Being fifteen minutes from most of these jobs matters more than it sounds. Kitchen remodeling on Cape Cod works better when the crew and the shop are in the same town as the house.
Towns We Serve
Barnstable is the largest town on the Cape and it contains Hyannis, Osterville, Centerville, Cotuit and Marstons Mills. It also runs under two different rulebooks. North of Route 6, the village of Barnstable falls under the Old King's Highway historic district and exterior work visible from the road needs a Certificate of Appropriateness. South of it, in Hyannis and Centerville, it does not.

Yarmouth Port on the north side is Old King's Highway, with antique Capes on Route 6A and historic district review on anything visible from the road. South Yarmouth is denser and newer, and the work there is mostly kitchens, bathrooms and decks on homes from the sixties and seventies.
General contractor in Yarmouth →Dennis has real grade. Scargo Hill is the highest point on Cape Cod, and the lots around it slope in a way most of the peninsula does not. That makes retaining walls a structural question here rather than a decorative one. Dennis is also Old King's Highway on the north side, which puts exterior work through historic district review.

The neighborhoods around Mashpee Commons and New Seabury went up in the eighties and nineties, so the work here is rarely antique Cape restoration. Homes along Route 6A here are genuinely antique, and a remodel in one is a structural conversation before it is a design one, because the framing behind a wall in a house that old is rarely what anyone expected.

That makes it the first town off Cape and the last one on, and it means every material delivery to the peninsula comes through it. It also sits between Cape Cod Bay and the Atlantic, which means exposure from both sides and a lot of second homes that sit empty through the winter.

Homes here take wind and salt from every direction, and a lot of them are seasonal, which means the work has to happen between October and May and the owner is watching from somewhere else.

The houses are tight, old and close together, and access on the narrow streets off Commercial Street decides how a job runs before anyone opens a wall. We take Plymouth projects case by case, because the Sagamore Bridge decides the drive more than the mileage does. Coverage on Cape Cod is not a radius on a map. It is a bridge, a season and a road.
Everything runs out of Warehouse Road in Hyannis. That puts the crew inside twenty five minutes of Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Mashpee and most of Falmouth, which is where the majority of the work sits. The lower Cape adds time. Chatham, Harwich, Brewster and Orleans are a real drive, and the outer Cape more so, with Wellfleet and Provincetown running to two hours. We take that work. We just plan it differently, with fewer trips and more material staged on site, because a crew that has to leave for a forgotten box of fasteners loses the afternoon, not the hour.
The Hyannis shop changes the logistics on cabinet and millwork jobs anywhere on the Cape. Doors, trim and millwork leave the house, get sprayed in a controlled environment, and come back finished. That means a homeowner in Chatham gets a shop finish rather than a coat sprayed in their kitchen with plastic on the floor and dust settling into it.
Season matters more than distance here. Interior work runs best from fall through spring, when second home owners are off the Cape and the house can be out of use without disrupting the season. Exterior work runs spring through fall, once the ground has thawed enough to dig a footing or compact a base. The homeowners who call in January get the good spots on the schedule, and the ones who call in June are usually calling about next year without knowing it yet.
Why a Local Contractor
Cape Cod is not eastern Massachusetts with a beach. It builds differently, and the differences are not optional.
Salt air. Fasteners rated for inland use fail here. A galvanized screw sold for a deck in Worcester gives up on a deck in Falmouth within a few winters. Coastal work gets stainless and hot dip galvanized hardware because the alternative is a deck that fails from the inside while the boards on top still look fine.
Sand. The peninsula sits on it. That single fact explains almost every hardscape failure here. A patio that settled, a wall that leans, a walkway gone wavy. The stone did what it was supposed to. The base did not. Masonry and hardscaping on Cape Cod starts below the ground, not at it.
Title 5. Most of the Cape runs on septic, and the rules are counterintuitive. Adding a bathroom does not increase septic design flow. Adding a bedroom does, at 110 gallons per day. A contractor who does not know that difference will either scare a homeowner out of a project they could have had, or walk them into a septic upgrade they never budgeted for.
Old King's Highway. From Sandwich through Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Brewster and Orleans, everything north of Route 6 that is visible from a public way needs a Certificate of Appropriateness before it is built. That is six of the fifteen towns on this peninsula. An out of area contractor finds out about that committee after the design is done.
